How to Download and Set Up PokerTracker 4 30 Day Free Trial

Playing poker online doesn’t let you observe other players’ facial expressions and habits like in real life. In order to compensate for this disadvantage, many successful players use HUD (Heads-Up Display) in tracking software, such as PokerTracker 4. You can try this tool for free for 30 days. In this article, we will introduce how to download and set up this free trial version of PokerTracker 4.

What is PokerTracker?

PokerTracker 4 is the software that collects your own and your opponents’ data during poker games and displays it in HUD. Installation of such software allows you to accumulate stats, such as VPIP, and analyze each player’s tendencies right on your play screen.
As shown in the image below, you can get each player’s statistical information before betting. VP is an abbreviation for VPIP mentioned earlier.

Below are some of the important stats, which you can see in the image above:

VPIP (Voluntarily Put Money in the Pot)
Can be used to predict the probability at which the opponent participates in the pot and whether the player is loose or tight.

PFR (Pre Flop Raise)
Includes open raise, 3bet, 4bet, and shows how aggressively the opponent is playing.

AF (Aggression Factor)
The ratio of aggressive action (raise) and passive action (call).
Check and fold are not included.
AF 2 means the player rises twice as often as he calls.

CBF (Cbet Flop)
The percentage of hands player bets the Flop after raising preflop.
It shows the frequency of opponent’s Flop continuation bet.
HUD displays such stats on your screen.

How to download PokerTracker 4

Zoom and other speed poker games accumulate many hands, and HUD is extremely useful in analyzing frequent participants. At the same time, the software might not be recognized with default settings after installation. We’ll walk you through step by step and explain all the necessary details to set your software up correctly.

First of all, go to the website of PokerTracker 4.

Click on “Create Account” and register your username. (You can also go straight to “Download” and make an account later.)

Username has to be 4-16 characters long. Enter your password as well.

Next, click on “Download.”

When you see the screen as in the image below, click on “Download.”

Click “Next.”

Select your preferred currency and click on “Next.”

In this example, we’ve selected PokerStars, one of the largest sites. iPoker Network is quite popular as well.

Make sure the settings for hands history in PokerStars are in English. You might get a message in red font like in the image below, but it’s common if you don’t have any hands in history yet.

Leave the “Auto Center” configurations of PokerStars as it is (keep reading for more information).

Select “Yes” if you’re planning to play Zoom (a type of speed poker) with PokerStars.

Select the recommended settings.

Everything related to display and themes can be changed later, so click on “Next.”

Once you get to the following image, choose “Close.” The initial setup is now complete.

We’re done with the basic settings of PokerTracker. You’ll see the main screen of the software.

PokerStars Settings

Click on “Settings” in the right corner of the main page and select “Table Appearance.” Next, click on “Preferred Seat.” You’ll see a screen like the image below. Tick a box next to “Always Auto-Center me.”

PokerTracker 4 imports hands history only in English, so we have to configure the settings to make sure the software works properly.

Click on “Settings” from the main page.

Click on “Playing History” on the left and select “Hand History.”

Tick the box next to “Save My Hand History.”

Enter 9999 days for the “Keep Hand Histories” component. Make sure English is selected for the language.

“Tournament Summaries” have to be saved in the same way. Make sure to select English as your language.

You’ll have to play a few times before PokerTracker 4 will start saving hands history.
Let’s go back to the main page. Click on “View Stats” in the upper left. Select “Choose New Player” from the menu.

Enter your player ID in the box next to “Search for Player.” Click on “OK.”

Once you’re done with the settings, click on “Get Hands While Playing” HUD will be displayed after you play a few hands. As a general rule, enable “Get Hands While Playing” during the game and select stop it when you’re done.

You should be able to see the HUD. If it doesn’t appear after playing several hands, try closing both PokerStars and PokerTracker. Reopen PokerTracker 4 first and then PokerStars.

You’ll see a huge text saying, “TRIAL: Please Register.” To move it, click on the PokerTracker 4 icon above and select “Unlock Layout.”

You’ll be able to drag the message away from the center.

If Your HUD Is Still Not Working

If you’ve changed all the settings, and your HUD still doesn’t appear, close both PokerStars and PokerTracker. Then try restarting PokerTracker first. After that, reopen PokerStars.
Also, check your PokerStars settings so that both hands history and tournament summaries are saved in English.

What can you do with PokerTracker 4

You can analyze your past and current performance through graphs and find your weaknesses. The image below is showing a graph in PokerTracker 4.

This software has a function called “Leak Tracker,” which allows you to compare your results with the results of strong players. Green zones are based on histories of players with good performance. If your values are out of the green zone, it might be your weakness or a “leak.”

You can download PokerTracker 4 free trial from the official website.
